We’ve got a lineup that’s a little creepy, totally unhinged, and gloriously moronic. Packed with ’80s and ’90s gems boasting zero CGI and big-time actors who deeply regret being associated with these movies, this list is all killer, no filler.
Let’s party.
Lost Boys
Coming in hot is The Lost Boys and it’s first for a reason. Think an R rated version of The Goonies taking on a gang of vampires. It’s got motorcycles, maggots, the most uncomfortable sax solo in movie history, an epic theme song, and bothCoreys in peak form! C’mon man, what else do you want?
We watched Jacob’s Ladder 35 years ago, and it’s still freaking us out (jeez). A Vietnam vet’s reality unravels as he’s tormented by visions that blur the line between life, death, and madness. We’ve been in meetings with people like this. Unsettling, brilliant, and unlike anything else out there.
An American Werewolf in London
Two American tourists backpacking through England stumble into a nightmare after a werewolf attack changes their lives forever. This one has the perfect mix of horror, dark humor, and killer practical effects, the scariest comedy you’ll ever see.
Evil Dead 2
Can a sequel really be better than the original? Can you write a script where every line is a catchphrase? Can you be totally absurd and totally awesome at the same time? The answer is no — but Evil Dead 2 tried anyway. A blood-soaked masterpiece of horror and slapstick, with Bruce Campbell delivering the ultimate one-man show of chainsaws, demons, and manic energy.
People who really know comedy know that Freddy Krueger is one of the best comedians of all time. Not only does Dream Warriors have some of the best one-liners ever assembled in cinema, it’s often regarded as the best sequel in the series, stepping up the story and performances while blending scares, style, and razor-sharp wit into pure horror magic.
One of Stephen King’s lesser-known films, and easily one of his weirdest. It’s a trio of twisted tales tied together by a stray cat wandering through danger, addiction, and supernatural chaos. We still don’t fully know what the hell it’s about, but it’s creepy, unpredictable, and will mess with your head.
Travis Walton was getting abducted long before anyone was talking about it on Rogan every week. Based on a “real-life” alien encounter, it’s packed with eerie atmosphere and some of the most genuinely terrifying scenes ever put on film.
It takes a special type of brilliance to make a movie this dumb. The story follows two bumbling reporters sent to Transylvania to investigate reports of a Frankenstein’s monster, only to stumble into a parade of bizarre characters, and ridiculous misunderstandings.
Now, this isn’t a movie...but it’s our list, and we’ll put whatever we want on it. If your best friend’s dad had a black cable box back in the day, chances are you were up too late watching this gruesome gem on HBO and loving every minute of it. A collection of crazy, twisted vignettes that defined late-night horror in the ’80s and ’90s.
